As a sculptor, I frequently use sketching to plan and "flesh out" pieces.
The products, though helpful, are void of background and are
one-dimensional. The wall hangings in the Layers exhibit stem from a
desire to create drawings and sketches that are in themselves viable
artwork. These pieces are the summation of layers of time, layers of
materials, and layers of processes.
